Series EE Bonds and I Bonds are available through Readlyn Savings Bank or online through
TreasuryDirect.
Savings Bonds earn moderate returns as low-risk investments backed by the full faith and credit of the United States. Interest earned is exempt from State and local taxes and earn interest for up to 30 years. Federal income taxes are deferred until the bonds reach final maturity or you redeem them, whichever comes first. They are sold in the following face value denominations: $50, $75, $ 100, $200, $500, $1000, $5000, and $10,000.
Series EE Bonds are sold at half their face value (ie. $25 for a $50 Series EE Bond) and interest earnings are based on current market rates.
I Bonds are sold at face value (ie. $50 for a $50 I Bond). Their real rate of return is set to be over and above inflation.
